Car COE Prices Steady, Commercial Vehicle Premiums Inch Up in Latest Tender

SINGAPORE – Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums for cars remained largely stable in the latest tender exercise on July 23, while commercial vehicle COEs saw a modest increase of 2.9 percent. This follows a fortnight ago where premiums had risen across all categories.
For Category A COEs, designated for smaller and less powerful cars and electric vehicles (EVs), the premium held firm at $101,102, matching the previous exercise.
The Category B COE, which covers larger and more powerful cars and EVs, saw a slight dip of 0.4 percent, settling at $119,101 from $119,600. Meanwhile, the price for an Open Category (Category E) COE – typically used for bigger and more powerful cars – rose by 1.3 percent to $120,000 from $118,500.
The most significant movement was in the commercial vehicle (Category C) COE, which climbed 2.9 percent from $66,689 to $68,600. Motorcycle (Category D) COEs also saw a 1.3 percent increase, reaching $9,511 from $9,389.
It's important to remember that a COE is a prerequisite for registering a vehicle in Singapore, with its cost typically factored into the vehicle's overall price.
This latest tender exercise marks the final one for the current three-month COE quota period. Authorities are expected to announce the COE supply for the upcoming August to October period soon.
